Hello!

I’m a first year computer science PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park. My research interests are broadly in improving AI safety and mitigating privacy and misinformation harms to people engaging with machine learning systems.

These interests stem from prior work; before returning to academia, I worked at Microsoft as a software engineer where I witnessed how advancements in AI are rapidly changing how people think and work. Before that, I was a machine learning engineer at TrueMedia.org where I worked on deepfake detection as a continuation of research I conducted for my masters degree. And even before that, I researched computer vision techniques for mobile health applications. Much of this work was conducted at the University of Washington, where I graduated with my masters degree in computer science. I also completed my bachelors degree in computer science and applied mathematics with College Honors at UW.

Other long term interests of mine include running, hiking, reading, and creating art (often of places I’ve run in or hiked around!).
